Elite offers to pick up fuel surcharge bill

Elite Island Resorts is offering to pay clients fuel surcharges with its Fuel On Us campaign, launched for travel agents. Agents can book the offer directly with Elite Island Resorts or through Kuoni.

More operators are expected to sign up over the coming weeks.  
Couples now booking a 10-night or more all-inclusive package across the company's Caribbean portfolio will receive a discount of $850 (£423).  
The discount is applicable on all holidays booked before 30 September and applies to travel in 2008 and 2009, although exclusions may apply.
"This campaign is designed to drive bookings during what is going to be a difficult time ahead with airlines predicting an increase in costs," said Paula Whitehead, managing director, Elite Island Resorts.
The news comes after several airlines, cruise ships and tour operators announced additional fuel surcharges.
Elite Island Resorts properties include the private island resort Palm Island in the Grenadines, Galley Bay in Antigua, the new 200-room luxury hotel Verandah Resort & Spa in Antigua.
