Mexico develops luxury offering

The UK is the highest inbound European tourist market for the country, which received 300,000 UK visitors last year.
The Banyan Tree Mayakoba is to open by April next year as the only all-pool villa resort in the Maya Riviera.
Facilities include outdoor spa pavilions, a Greg Norman-designed championship golf course, and the Saffron restaurant.
The all-pool villa Banyan Tree Cabo Marques, Acapulco, is set to open by August 2009.
Facilities will include a spa complex, three restaurants, a bar, banquet hall, and a private beach.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts launches The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, Nayarit, on 1 November.
The 189-room St. Regis Mexico City opens 1 March 2009, in the heart of Mexico City on the Paseo de la Reforma.
BEACHFRONT CASITAS
Meanwhile, One&Only Palmilla, Los Cabos, is to launch 13 beachfront casitas in November, along with the Market restaurant and the Suviche bar.
The resort opens the four-bedroom, 10,500sqft Villa Cortez on 1 December.
It will offer a 24-hour butler service, private spa facilities, a 12-seat cinema, indoor and outdoor kitchen, infinity pool and media studio.
Orient-Express Hotels' Casa de Sierra Nevada, San Miguel, is to open six suites in December, each with a patio plunge pool.
The 59-room cliff-side Capella Ixtapa is to open on 15 December.
Capella Pedregal, Los City on Wednesdays Cabos, and Capella Bahia Maroma, are to open in March 2009.
Capella Nahui, Riviera Nayarit, will open in November 2010 with 98 rooms.
GATWICK LAUNCH
Mexicana launches a Mexico City to London Gatwick route on 17 January.
The service will depart from Mexico and Saturdays at 2:00pm and arriving at Gatwick at 6:55am the following day.
Return flights will depart from London at 10:30am.
Additional flights will launch on 17 February.
